Loyalsock Link Small Loop - World's End State Park

TYPE - Day Hike

The hike planned for today was supposed to be a 7 mile "figure 8" loop at World's End State Park. It ended up being more of a "lollipop" hike because we shortened the hike due to the heat and some minor medical issues. We started off at the World's End State Park Visitor Center. There were quite a few cars parked here, but most people seemed to be hanging around the picnic areas and Double Run. Once we got away from those areas, the trail was our own, at least until we got to the Canyon Vista.

The loop we chose today was the Loyalsock Trail, Link Trail, Double Run Trail, Loyalsock Trail, Canyon Vista Trail, Link Trail, and then back onto the Double Run Trail and back to our vehicle at the visitor center. This short hike is deceivingly difficult, especially on this hot August day. In just over two miles we reach the Canyon Vista. This is a nice view, but be prepared to share it with a lot of people. This overlook is almost always busy, which makes sense considering you can drive right up to it.

After leaving the vista we were hot and looking for a cool place to take a quick lunch break. Once we approached Double Run, we found a nice spot away from the trail and enjoyed the peaceful break. Even though the water levels were down quite a bit, Double Run is a very picturesque section of the trail. There are many loops of different lengths that can be hiked here at World's End State Park. Just remember to bring a good map. The trails here can be quite confusing at times.
