Sweet Nutty Gorp

Gorp stands for Good Old Raisins and Peanuts, and it's basically a snack mix that contains just about anything in it that you want. We prefer sweet and salty, and using dehydrated fruits instead of raisins, but Gorp can be anything you want it to be.

Gorp is great while hiking especially because it is easy to snack on while hiking, and it provides plenty of the necessary nutrients one needs. Here is the recipe...

honey nut chex cereal - 2 cups
pretzels, chopped into bites - 1/2 cup
M&Ms, regular - 1/2 cup
M&Ms, peanut - 1/2 cup
sunflower seeds - 1/2 cup
cashews - 1/2 cup
peanuts, dry roasted- 1/2 cup
pistachios - 1/2 cup
chocolate almonds - 1/2 cup
dehydrated apples, chopped - 1 cup
dehydrated pears, chopped - 1/2 cup
dehydrated bananas, chopped - 1/2 cup

1. Chop the pretzels, apples, pears, and bananas into bite sized pieces.

2. Measure out all ingredients into a large bowl. Gently mix ingredients together.

3. Divide mixture into servings. This recipe makes approximately 30 ounces of gorp. We make (10) 3 ounce servings out of this.

4. Package your gorp. I vacuum seal each individual serving so they are ready for the trail. On the trail we just cut the corner off of the bag and enjoy!
